BVA Hip Scoring

Both parents are X-rayed and scored under the British Veterinary Association hip scoring scheme. Each hip is scored from 0 to 53. The lower the score, the better the hip conformation. We only breed from dogs with scores well below the breed average. Hip dysplasia is hereditary — testing before breeding dramatically reduces the risk in puppies.

BVA Elbow Grading

Both parents are graded under the BVA elbow grading scheme. Elbows are assessed from Grade 0 (normal) to Grade 3 (severe). We only breed from Grade 0 animals. Elbow dysplasia causes significant pain and mobility issues in large breeds. Responsible breeders test. We always have.

JLPP DNA Test

Juvenile Laryngeal Paralysis and Polyneuropathy is a fatal neurological disease specific to Rottweilers. Affected puppies develop progressive paralysis and typically die before 12 months. The DNA test is definitive. We only breed Clear to Clear or Clear to Carrier — never producing affected puppies. Every litter is planned with JLPP status confirmed.

DM DNA Test

Degenerative Myelopathy is a progressive spinal disease that causes hind limb paralysis in older dogs. Like JLPP, it is hereditary and testable. We DNA test both parents to ensure our breeding programme does not perpetuate this condition. A Rottweiler that lives to old age should walk to old age.

Puppy Vet Check

Every puppy is examined by an independent veterinary surgeon before sale. The vet checks eyes, ears, heart, lungs, joints, and overall conformation. You receive the vet health certificate at point of sale. This is not a tick-box exercise — it is a genuine independent health assessment of your specific puppy.

Vaccination & Microchip

Every puppy receives their first vaccination before leaving. The vaccination card is provided and transfers to your vet. Every puppy is microchipped and registered in your name before transfer, in compliance with US law. Both are included in the purchase price — no hidden extras.

What does the health guarantee actually cover?

The health guarantee confirms that the puppy was examined by a veterinary surgeon and found to be in good health at point of sale. It confirms the parent health test results and documentation provided. It also confirms our commitment to lifetime support. It does not replace standard veterinary insurance but it does give you documented assurance of the puppy’s health status at the time of purchase.

Can I see the parent health test certificates?

Yes. We are happy to share BVA hip scores, elbow grades, and DNA test results for both parents on request. We believe transparency is fundamental to responsible breeding. Any breeder who refuses to share parent health certificates should be approached with caution.

What is JLPP and why does it matter?

Juvenile Laryngeal Paralysis and Polyneuropathy is a fatal hereditary neurological disease found in Rottweilers. Affected puppies develop progressive paralysis and typically die or require euthanasia before 12 months of age. It is caused by a recessive gene and is entirely preventable through DNA testing before breeding. We test every breeding dog and never produce affected puppies.

What is BVA hip scoring?

BVA hip scoring is an X-ray assessment scheme run by the British Veterinary Association. Each hip is scored from 0 (perfect) to 53 (worst). The two hip scores are combined for a total out of 106. The Rottweiler breed average is around 12 to 14. We only breed from dogs scoring significantly below this average, reducing the hereditary risk of hip dysplasia in our puppies.

Is the puppy insured when it leaves you?

We recommend taking out pet insurance immediately on collection or delivery. We do not currently include insurance as part of the sale, but we recommend doing so from day one. We are happy to recommend insurance providers if needed.

What should I do if I have a health concern after purchase?

Call us directly. We are available seven days a week during business hours and we take every enquiry seriously. In the first instance, contact your vet for any urgent medical concerns. For behaviour, diet, training or development questions, call us first — that is what the lifetime support is for.
